Sonia Duggal
Sonia is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor who has proven experience in helping individuals manage personal, professional and/or relational stress. She helps adults, couples, parents, adolescents and families overcome emotional distress, find fulfillment and build resiliency.
She has worked with individuals that are challenged with life transitions, depression, anxiety, trauma and anger management issues. Sonia assists family members and couples in reconnection, bridging relational gaps and addressing attachment issues. She has significant experience in helping with co-parenting and supporting parents of children with behavioral and emotional dis-regulation due to mental health or life-stage related issues.
Sonia’s goal is to help individuals overcome the barriers limiting them from a fulfilling life. She has a strength-based, yet gentle approach in therapy informed by modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy and other humanistic, existential and integrative approaches. She has worked in intensive outpatient settings, elementary and high schools, and in private practice. She is sensitive to cultural identification and picks an approach in adherence with an individual’s unique personality, values and cultural framework. In addition, experiences from her previous corporate career, living in different parts of the world and parenthood helps enhance her effectiveness with individuals from all walks of life.
In her spare time Sonia enjoys spending time with her family and friends, nature walks, reading and cooking multi-ethnic cuisines.
