Shirley is an bilingual/bi-cultural AMFT who earned her Master’s of Arts in Clinical Psychology degree at Palo Alto University. Her journey in the field of mental health began at a young age with a strong desire to work with others and build healthy relationships. She believes that we all have the innate gifts and capacities that allow us to heal and grow so we can make meaningful decisions and changes with clarity and intention— therapy is just one catalyst that can move us along that process. Shirley has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in treatment facilities, community schools, home-based environments and wraparound services.
Sometimes experiences in our childhood years impact how, as adults, we show up or not for ourselves and others. When our past is present, in the absence of self-awareness, we might engage in unhealthy, self-sabotaging or dysfunctional patterns that no longer serve us, hold us back from our goals, and keep us painfully disconnected from ourselves.
In therapy she uses a gentle, empathetic, compassionate, collaborative, humanistic approach infused with warm humor to support you through deeply healing inner-work so you can lead a more full, authentic life worth living.
