Sheryl is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She is dedicated to helping adults, adolescents and families recover from trauma, loss and thrive while coping with chronic medical conditions. Trained in transpersonal psychology, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), she uses a holistic approach and is skilled in individualizing the care she offers. Serving in local nonprofit agencies and private practice, Sheryl has offered extensive support to foster and adoptive families and to individuals ready to deepen their personal relationships. Sheryl is able to help individuals reduce anxiety, improve their mood, restore hope, and reconnect with their community.
Sheryl is also a licensed Irlen Diagnostician and the clinic director of the San Francisco Bay Area Irlen Clinic. The Irlen Method provides a unique service for some children and adults identified with reading and learning difficulties, low motivation, attention deficit disorder (ADHD), discipline problems, headaches and migraines, autism, and traumatic brain injury. The symptoms of Irlen Syndrome are wide-ranging, but the technology focuses on one core problem: the brain’s inability to process visual information. An individual does not have to have a diagnosed reading or learning problem to benefit from the Irlen Method. Even good readers and gifted students can be helped.
