Therapist
Sarah Kay Fuhs
Sarah is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years experience in the field of mental health. Sarah has worked extensively with individuals living with psychosis, mood disorders, personality disorders, and anxiety disorders. Sarah believes that individuals need to deeply understand how their maladaptive behaviors are affecting their lives and learn skills that will support them in positively moving forward. Using concrete goals combined with enhancing naturally available support systems, the individual, family or partnership can become “unstuck”. Sarah also has significant experience working children and teens, both as a school based counselor and in private practice.
As a clinician, she uses a trauma-informed care model, and is sensitive to the unique life events that each person has experienced. She has advanced certifications in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and has been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Sarah is trained as a Transpersonal Psychotherapist, and often incorporates healing modalities such as art therapy, mindfulness, music, aromatherapy, and movement as a complementary means of processing emotions that might be difficult to verbalize in traditional talk therapy.
Sarah was born and raised in San Mateo County, and has two grown children, two dogs, and serves as One Life Counseling's Associate Clinical Director and Lead of the Youth Advisory Council. Her spare time is devoted to rooting for the Giants, reading mystery novels, and spending time outdoors enjoying nature.
