I am a San Francisco native and have lived in the Bay Area most of my life. I received a B.A. in philosophy at UC Santa Cruz and my M.A. in Counseling Psychology at John F. Kennedy University. I have also studied personal development with different teachings. All roads have led me to conclude the answer to most of life’s questions lay in authentic self expression, kindness, and love.
My intention in being a therapist is to assist others in their own path of healing and discovery of their authentic voice, in order to live their best lives with all the potential therein. Pain is an inherent part of being alive, and the experience of being human is not for the faint-hearted! Asking for help is a powerful act, especially when one feels that the wheels are coming off. The fact that you are considering therapy shows strength and resiliency. I work with teens and adults suffering with anxiety, depression, bereavement, addiction and substance abuse, and PTSD.
My therapeutic orientations include Motivational Interviewing, CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness Therapy. Whatever approach I am using, my orientation is always humanistic and focused on providing a safe space for people to look inward in search of truth.
I am a straight white cisgender man and am committed to being an ally to underserved communities such as LGBTQ and BIPOC. I work to stay conscious of my privilege, and if you are a member of a targeted community, you have my commitment to seek a real understanding of your lived experience.
We live in challenging times. We’ve all been severely impacted by the pandemic in a myriad of ways. We are also integrating rapidly changing social norms and grappling with profound conflict and a deeply divided national community. Environmental crises are increasing in frequency and severity. In spite of all of the challenges each of us faces we have the seeds of healing and understanding within. I would be honored to become your ally in that process.
