Kristy Phillips
Kristy combines her professional history in education and academia, and her experience as a spouse and mother, in her approach to psychotherapy. She likes to work with clients to bring compassion and self-compassion into their lives, as well as to identify and change destructive or unhelpful relationship patterns. Kristy engages in play and art therapy with her younger clients, and draws on Family Systems, Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy skills, and Compassion-based therapy for her individual adult clients. She strongly believes in the importance of uncovering family histories and narratives around trauma as they frequently provide keys to eliminating “stuckness” and depressive symptoms. Kristy will also be leading Positive Discipline parenting classes starting in the Fall 2023, designed to help parents strengthen relationships with their children and learn how to parent effectively without punishment or permissiveness.
Kristy is a local mother of two children. Her little cockapoo named Paia works with her at her San Carlos office! She enjoys experiencing art and architecture, and just returned from a six-month trip through Asia with family where she learned how to worldschool, and how to embrace change and self-care in her daily routine.
