Katie Comfort
Katie’s path towards becoming a therapist started by working with women and couples as a doula for over two and a half years, attending twenty-five births. After her doula days she continued to support parents and families within the SF Bay Area’s birth & baby community through her passion for the environment as the Marketing Director of EarthBaby compostable diaper service.
With her three children growing older, Katie began to rethink her career, as she realized she missed the personal work with individuals and couples in their transition to parenthood. Working with parenting couples in mind, she enrolled at California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco in 2019 and graduated this past December 2021. Katie's work towards her master’s degree in counseling psychology at CIIS has confirmed her interest in the importance of our interpersonal relationships, which she believes is the purpose of human life. She believes Esther Perel’s statement that, “the quality of your relationship(s) ultimately determines the quality of your life.”
Katie has been with One Life since May of 2020 and is now an associate. She is excited about bringing into her practice her past experiences and education to support couples, families and individuals to help improve their relationships and in turn themselves. Additionally, Katie helps One Life on the referral team, as she enjoys matching up clients and therapists. Outside of her family and career, Katie is also a competitive master’s swimmer having accomplished more than five relay races across Lake Tahoe and swam from Alcatraz for the first time in 2019 and is the new assistant coach for the Woodside High School swim team for this Spring, 2022.
