Gary Lamm

Gary Lamm

Gary Lamm, is an Associate Marriage Family Therapist, who grew right here on the peninsula and proudly graduated from San Francisco State University, with a Masters in Marriage Family Child Counseling (Special Emphasis Gerontology). He completed his Masters, Culminating Experience Project at SF State on (non-directive) Child Centered Play Therapy in a School Based setting. Gary has experience working with young people as a mental health therapist in school-based settings with children and teens from K-12 Grade. He has also served as a registered behavioral technician (RBT) working with toddlers to high school teens. Gary’s has a passion has for and has experience working with special needs populations, including the Deaf and hard of hearing community, people with autism and other client’s with “non-neurotypical” brains. Gary thinks “being different, if you’re being yourself, is cool.” Gary’s unique combination of experience, training and natural talents not only help him give his clients a space to be listened to and be themselves, while adding practical coping skills to their repertoire, but also helps him modify sound therapeutic interventions, making them most beneficial to clients of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and personalities. Gary loves working with young people, but hopes to expand his practice to working with veterans and the elderly.

Gary is currently working as a private practice mental health therapist at OLC. Gary believes therapy should be fun and enjoyable (and it is), but he is going to challenge and encourage you to work and grow. He keeps it real, understanding the challenges, pressures and demands of the growing young person (and all people), giving you space to be unsure, imperfect, make mistakes, cry, have fun, laugh, and even show your competitive tough side. Gary loves letting his clients express their unique personalities. His office is a place where his clients can listen to their favorite music, shoot baskets on his mini-court, do art, hug a teddy (no matter what age you are) of just lounge on the couch talking about your social life or what is on the other side of black a hole.

Gary is a super big 49ers, Giants and Warriors fan. He is a local independent wrestling color broadcast analyst. He loves 80s rock, 90s hip hop and learning about new artists from his clients. He considers himself “The People’s Therapist.” Gary sees and genuinely loves working with everybody, but if having a therapist with Christian faith is a must for you, then he’s your guy. His mission is it to make a genuine positive impact on the One Life community by respectfully, joyfully, proficiently, and ethically meeting the needs of his clients struggling with emotional and mental health challenges or just need a therapist to help them through some rough times.
