Liz is a licensed clinical social worker with 20 plus years’ experience supporting, advocating for, and empowering others. She brings warmth, caring and openness to her work, practicing a variety of therapeutic models but focuses on Acceptance Commitment Therapy to help individuals to explore their values in life and guide them to work on their committed actions even amid life setbacks.
Liz has worked in a wide variety of roles. She has worked in an after-school program, as a case manager with older adults, college wellness counselor, and as a medical social worker in a wide variety of medical and psychiatric services. She has expertise in working with students, young adults, parents, caregivers, older adults, and with Asian Americans. Broad areas of interest include diversity, equity and inclusion issues, women’s issues, cancer support, faith-based Christian counseling, and social and therapeutic group work.
Liz received her master’s degree from Columbia University School of Social Work and her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Bowdoin College. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in New York State in addition to being a LCSW in California. Liz is on the Board of the San Mateo Japanese American Citizens’ League and volunteers with Bay Area Cancer Connections. Liz is married and has two teenagers. She enjoys writing poetry, dabbling in watercolor painting, reading multicultural fiction, and traveling.
