I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in process of pursuing my licensure. My interest becoming a counselor began when I volunteered at the crisis hotlines, and I became interested in how I am able to help individuals and families overcome obstacles. I have served individuals and families handling anxiety, depression, trauma and issues within the family system. This also applies to my role as a school-based counselor where I have guided children and adolescents process their hardships. I view my role in a family systems perspective where I identify the person and their environment. Cognitive behavioral therapy and art and play therapy is also practiced in my field. However, I attempt to use other forms of therapy that best suit each person's needs.
Being a part of the Latinx community allows me to communicate with clients and families in both English and Spanish. In addition, I have a history of leading support groups specifically for children that encourage emotional processing as well as implement therapeutic skills to support their well-being.
My self care includes exercising, gardening, and exploring different naturalistic settings.
